Retreat Recap

It's been a while since the retreat, but here's the blog to remind you of good times and some of the blessings we've been given from our Heavenly Father.

We were blessed to have our annual retreat up in Midway this year. The food was delicious, the message inspiring, and the talent show entertaining. Thank you so much to Kristen, April, and the many others who helped plan and prepare to make the retreat a success.

We had Cafe Río style pork salad for dinner. (Click on the "Recipes of Liberty Ward" link on the left to see the recipes.) Rachel made flan, tres leche, and rice pudding for dessert (if you'd like to know how to make those you'll have to talk to Rachel). I ate so much I felt I could barely walk, I don't think I was the only one.

April gave us a spiritual message about remembering our divine nature, prioritizing and creating. We are daughters of Heavenly Father, there is power in remembering that and using that knowledge to help us feel of his love for us. We learned that the Young Women theme and the Relief Society theme are based upon the same values. How amazing that the inspired Young Women theme prepares us to become women of Relief Society and in turn the Relief Society theme reminds us of the values which provide a solid foundation for our lives. We also watched a video clip of a talk by Pres. Uchtdorf, check out the link under "Inspiring Videos."

Speaking of creating, the sisters of our ward are amazing! Several sisters displayed their talents; sewing, scrapbooking, woodworking, card making, gardening, the list could go on and on. I'm sure there were many more talents that were not displayed that evening. The talent show was a mixture of seriousness and fun. It was wonderful to be uplifted by the sisters of the Liberty Ward.

Here's some photos and a video from the talent show. Enjoy!

Thanks to all who attended, you are the ones who made the retreat a success!
